performance art workshop

guided by idit herman Dmitry Tyulpanov

February 18, 19, 20.

Clipa Theater has developed a unique workshop method for experiencing and experimenting with performance art, based on the belief that a hands-on approach is the only way to study this vast field. The workshops are for dancers, actors and creators wishing to develop their performance and creation skills.

Clipa's method of performance art combines a wide range of styles and disciplines: dance and movement-theater, visual-theater, object-theater, pantomime, modern clowning, physical-theater and Butoh.

We perceive the workshop as a continually changing and developing reservoir of methods, drills and exercises based on the group founders' experience in countless workshops conducted over the years throughout the world.

The following subjects are emphasized in the workshops:

* Abstract and expressionistic movement
* Solo work, partner work and group work
* Body, voice and rhythm
* Working with objects, materials, costumes and space
* Building and breaking a character
* The process of creating - from idea to performance.

The Workshops are guided by Idit Herman and Dmitry Tyulpanov, and include a wide range of exercises that vary according to the participants' experience and ability.

Each lesson is compromised of 3 parts:
1. Warm-up and physical exercises
2. Guided improvisation exercises
3. Creation exercise: short segments are created by each of the participants

Clipa Theater's performance art workshop is held twice a year, in the winter and in the summer.
The workshops are open to both professionals and students from various artistic fields, with previous experience in movement.
The workshop provides platform for artists and performers interested in applying to work with Clipa Theater.
