THE FIRST SUBERB

Visual Theater | PATHOSFORMEL, Italy

THE FIRST SUBERB, with great grace and skill, looks into the physical actions and the ways of operating man-like mannequins.

Every move, every gesture the mannequin makes, even the smallest one, requires the operators do a series of complexed motions and actions to mimic the human body.

With virtuous precision and silence, the abstract stage actions lead us in to the deep meanings and thoughts that stand in the base of an action.

THE TIMIDITY OF BONES takes the viewer to an Astonishing journey in the symbols of the human body. Behind a bright white screen, different body part appear: nose, limbs, backbone and elbows create beautiful carvings of buried cultures that disappear In a flash and then appear again on the white fabric, un physical forms that leave nothing behind.

PATHOSFORMEL is a performing art project made by Daniel Blanga-Gubbay and

Paola Villani and considered to be one of the leading visual theater groups in Italy. Their work is distinctive for its originality, variegation, and the debts of an idea.

One of their main motives is the perfect reconstruction of visual actions and symbols from the mechanical world, by operators using nothing but their bodies.

The group's fascinating creations have earned them several distinctive theater awards, such as the UBU for TIMIDITY OF BONES in 2008.

ABSTINENT

Butoh | Novoyushi Asay, Japan

Darkness, look deep into it and you could not recognize a thing.

The sun, you could not look into in, though you could see things in its light.

However you look at it, you are afraid to look at both, drawn and tempted to do so.

Attraction to something in itself is a relationship with it. What can you expect, and why can't you anticipate the results of Prohibited behavior? Why do you still want it?

Novoyushi Asay creates Butoh with an uncompromising design of the space, the costumes and the Movement in a struggle and dialogue with the remarkable aesthetic tradition of the Senkai Juko group, of which he was a member in the past years.

Asay started his journey as a dancer in Street Dance competitions, which he often also won, started dance groups and stared in Japanese movies, TV and commercials. Later he made a sharp turn and started to learn and create Butoh, taking advantage of his virtuous quality that he inquired as a young dancer and harnessing it to create a unique and contemporary style of Butoh.

Creator, designer and performer: Novoyushi Asay
